We dined in the evening at the Marsh Tavern. Unfortunately the establishment is let down by it's lacklustre customer service. The Equinox Resort looks impressive and our room was elegantly decorated and very comfortable. Manchester, Vermont is a lovely town as is the surrounding countryside. We stated at The Equinox on our tour of New England in the Fall 2018. At least the bell service collected our car on time! Thank you! I wonder if Saturday’s breakfast tray has been collected as of this writing? No need to wonder about a quick trip back to the Equinox. Upon leaving our room for check this morning that tray still uncollected. This as I expected only as timely service as the previous day’s left over tray still on the hallway floor. I selected this route as to wait for a return call from In Room Dining. Not surprised since the room service tray still not collected when I ventured to the lobby to try and bring coffee to my wife. Union returning back to the room after dinner, that messy room service tray, STILL THERE! Called for room service this morning to order breakfast and was received with no one in staff to answer my call. Cheers to Mary and O’Neil who provided excellent service. Check in aside, again the room nice and we enjoyed a fine meal at their Chop House restaurant. Finally at the room, nice and clean, but at the door was an ugly and messy room service tray with what looked like the remains of breakfast strewn across the floor. She offered no apologize but clearly stated that you understand we have a 4pm check in time. This was the specific attendant who had indifferently greeted us 2 hours ago. Confusing? Second rate service for Groupon users? At five minutes after 4pm staff came by and asked had anyone called you? No calls received. In the interim I sat for 30 minutes watching a stream of folks receiving room cards at reception. Lobby is beautiful so we camped in at one of the fireplaces and waited. Reservation was a deluxe King Room, would seem that a hotel of this stature would have a number of this style? Then why were we still waiting at 3pm? My wife went to check again soon after, and no luck yet in receiving the elusive Deluxe King Room! Hotel was extremely busy as we learned of a wedding that evening. Yet many folks were being checked in at the same time? Maybe we were treated as second class citizens as my wife used Groupon to book reservation? If so that is not good news for Groupon. Those staff were Inattentive and unresponsive with little desire only to state your room was not ready and someone will call you when available. Many in line, and not enough staff to serve the need. Saturday was a cold and rainy windy day yet when we arrived at 2pm on the 27th we were surprised at the busy reception area of the property. My wife and I just checked out from a one night anniversary celebration stay at the Equinox.
